Consultancy and teaching

As a writer it’s always good to pass it on. For me this comes in the form of teaching creative writing and journalism and undertaking editorial consultancy for a variety of clients. I have taught creative writing at the ICA in London and at West Dean College, near Chichester in West Sussex, on all aspects from plot to dialogue, character to sense of place and time. I have taught journalism at the London School of Journalism to postgraduate students who want to become journalists in the arts of feature writing, news reporting and writing reviews. I have also taught feature writing to working journalists on a variety of titles including The Financial Times and BBC Gardeners World, not forgetting Big Carp Magazine. I will also tailor one-to-one teaching for both journalism and creative writing.

I conducted a major editorial audit of magazines, newsletters and other publications produced by ArcelorMittal at its headquarters in Luxembourg. Other clients include the Industry and Parliament Trust and leading private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners. I was also involved in the creation of music channel Vintage TV, writing programme outlines and business pitches.
